Possibly my last shot of Randy from last week... Unless somehow the various protests can manage to get them back!
WDW Magic posted videos of Off Kilter's last two performances (I know Red already posted WDW Today's video of the last performance, but wanted to post these together as a pair). The boys really pulled out all the stops on the final day and put on to incredible performances to end the day. From what I read the crowd was enormous, stretching all the way down to Rose and Crown. Hopefully management reconsiders, but if not, I hope to see Randy, Jason, Jamie Mark and Scott continue playing as Off Kilter in another venue someday.
I got choked up at the end of the World Showcase Players too. It was neat to see how many other "Players" showed up for the finale and then to have a number of cast members lined up in the back watching. And did you notice at the end of Off Kilter it looked as if Security had to escort them off stage so they wouldn't continue playing all night (I'd bet they would have if given an option). I'm sure that wasn't the reason for security, but it was funny seeing them there.
Looks like Disney has had a previous engagement with the Lumberjack Show at the Wilderness Lodge. I'd still prefer Off Kilter, but I'll probably watch each of the new acts once and then pass judgement on further viewings.
There was a big discussion in the WDW Today live show chat last night about the security folks at the final Off Kilter show. I think the final verdict was that they were there to protect the stage, props and the band's equipment from possible "souvenir hunters."
Jason said on Facebook that security was there to protect the band. Dennis is also probably correct about them being there to protect the stage since Jason commented that it was a unique gig in that Disney opened all the equipment except the instruments, excluding the drum set. I did think it was rather tacky that Disney had that tech start to clear the stage immediately following the last encore. That was bad show and should have waited at least until the awnings could be closed if not until after the park closed. Surely the security guards could have protected the stage that long.
