So I just saw that the DVC is going to have a "Moonlight Magic" night at Epcot just before and just after PixelMania in December (on Mondays the 4th and 11th). Seeing as how many Maniacs are DVCers I thought this might be a good opportunity to get some great, light crowd, night shots around Epcot. The downside is that we'd have to be fast enough to register once it opens up to signing up. However, I do think each DVC member can bring a guest or two. I'm definitely going to try and go to one if not both as I miss the Magic Kingdom on in March by two weeks and the Animal Kingdom one in September by one week. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Sounds good to me. If it's like the MK event it sounds like it would be 3 hours of access after the park closes. I would think that even if the entire WS isn't open I would think they would keep the international gateway open, giving access to GB & Canada. I also think they would keep Frozen open, giving access to Norway and Mexico.
We did the DVC Safari in September last year and it was a good time. Each member is able to bring up to 5 guests. I was on the phone first thing in the morning so I am not sure how quickly it fills up but the park was not very busy except at the free food locations. Currently the Epcot Moonlight Magic page is displaying the Stitch "Someone ate the page" notification so I cant get the details but reservations opened about 2 months in advance for the last one we went to.
If you're allowed to bring 5 guests we should easily be able to cover everyone. Do you have to designate the names of the guests when you make the reservation?
I do not think that I needed to give names. Also, if you are staying at a DVC resort during the event you can bring as many as are on your reservation so if you happen to have 12 in a Grand Villa you're all set. Not that it likely applies to anyone in our group...
I am going to try to go to the Moonlight Magic night at Epcot on either night, especially Dec. 11. I am planning on attending the MK After Hours DVC party on March 3rd with 5 guests who are on my resort reservation. I don't remember if I had to list their names, but I don't think so. My confirmation just says 6 guests. It would be awesome if can all attend. If may be a good idea, for everyone who is going to try for a reservation, if we had names of those interested in case we need them.
As soon as any of us hear when reservation will began please let all us DVCers know so we can jump right on the time reservation opens. The MK After Hours parties started registration on line early one morning. ( like 7am or so. I don't remember exactly) I believe the guests with resort reservations were to book a day or so before everyone else.
When I rebook my September reservation at the 7 month window I'll ask the agent if they know an estimated date for booking the Event. The big question is how fast these events book up. Is it a matter of hours like some special events? Or do we have a couple of days? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I was looking online at last year's event dates and saw a post that said the Safari Event on 9/6/16 opened for booking on 7/6/16... so it might be at the two month mark, but I'd definitely keep an eye out for it before that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
For the Magic Kingdom events on February 24th and March 3rd, the DVC member page says: "Members with Disney Resort hotel reservations during the event can book as early as Thursday, December 1, 2016. Event reservations open to all Members on Tuesday, December 6, 2016." As of now, the February event has "limited availability" and the March Event is sold out, and earlier today I am quite sure that the March event was not sold out. Based on that I don't think that we need to be on the phone the instant the reservations open up, but I wouldn't wait for weeks either. Was just getting ready to say that I found this exact info as well... I screenshot the RSVP page to show the "rules" about the number of guests. I guess it's a limit of six people unless you have a room booked that holds more (and have more than six on the actual reservation). But I suppose they might limit it to only those on the actual reservation for those with a reservation and want to book early. Something that will need to be asked prior to everyone trying to book. Though as a group I don't think every Maniac-DVCer will need to book for five extra each. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
i'm in for 12/11, i do not arrive until 12/5 so i can do it only on that day, this cover michael, tim and myself, although since tim is usually gone by monday maybe i can cover a couple extra people not on my resort reservation, and i am glad i found out now, since i fly home tuesday and do not want too early a flight
I'll most likely miss both as I come in Wed and leaving Sun - even if I decide to extend my trip to leave Monday, it would still be early AM departure. Oh well! I'll just have to hope I can get a good cool, clear night for Epcot shots right at or after a park close night or if we do an Epcot/Epcot Resort Area night shoot meet.
I know I'm arriving on Saturday Dec. 2rd and I'm leaving on Friday Dec.15th. I'm booked at Plop century. ~Joanie
I also am available as a guest if there is room. As an added bonus, I have been known to be the life of the party... ~Joanie
I'm bumping this up higher on the board so the DVC'ers can keep their eyes and ears open for this. These things really fill up fast so we will have to be on point. ~Joanie
Based on the dates the other events opened up for registration I'm thinking the December Epcot event will open sometime in mid to late August (at the earliest)... but that's still a guess. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I plan to be at Universal on Monday evening, so you can take my name off the list for now. I may reconsider if park and event hours allow one to do both.
