Just realized today that my little dude is growing up. ; Today was his first time to the movies where we saw Toy Story 3. ; The end kind of hit me a little bit because it made me realize for the 1st time that my little dude is not going to be my little dude forever. ; I think all of you daddies out that can relate. ; It was a poignant moment. ; Remember to take the time to cherish all of the little moments along the way.
The end hit you a 'little bit'? ; From what I've been hearing all over the web, it's been reducing most guys to wet mush! ; I've been seeing comparisons to the Up 'death montage'. ; But only guys apparently...it doesn't seem to be hitting women as hard.
I think Toy Story hits the "Parental" Button whereas Up hits the "Relationship" button. ; I had a lot of female friends get teary-eyed at TS3 (and guy friends also, but was not limited to guys).
I can relate Tim. I remember taking both my sons to the movies and the AC boardwalk pre casinos and wildwood and now they are both older than you. time does fly
Amen to that Tim! ; We saw it last week and I had to hold back the tears as I watched with my 8 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter.
We tried to take my three-year-old to it (her first trip to the theater as well) but she was ready to leave thirty minutes into it. Apparently the bear really scared her. She loved the first two movies so I was a little surprised. Maybe it was the dark room with lots of strangers?
Nancy and I went to TS3 for her 31st birthday (without the kids). ; We went to the Warren Theatre which has a balcony for people who are 21+ since they serve alcohol in those seats (as well as full dinner service). Well, you could hear all the sniffling going on near the end and it was without a doubt an all adult group up there and not all those sobs were attributed to females. I must say that I was very misty eyed but it may have been attributed to popcorn salt in my eyes.....haha But, I can say that now that I'm a parent to two year old and a 4 month old that this movie had a different impact on me than the previous two. ; Even though I've only been a parent for 6 months, it still changes you immediately. The way Disney wrapped up that story for the kids who saw it in 1995 AND the parents of those kids AND the adults, like myself, who saw it before they became parents. While the bear's eventual role was predictable, what I thought was interesting was that Pixar managed to top the "Jessie's Song" from TS2 and created that lump in your throat moment several times throughout the movie with a much greater impact and without the help of Sarah McLachlan to evoke that emotion. Granted we try to buy every Disney animated movie that hits the shelves, but our collection MUST have this movie. ; To top it off, the Pixar short in the beginning was fabulous (I don't like all their shorts) and the use of Disney Digital 3D added to the movie rather than detract with the use of cheap 3D tricks
