Well DVC was sort of like pretending you live in Disney for a small period of time...but now if you happen to be an internet startup billionaire or married an old person on oxygen for their money, you can go beyond pretending, and actually LIVE IN DISNEY: http://disneygoldenoak.disney.go.com/ Move over Don Quixote, I've got an impossible dream. ; I know where I'd like to live. ; Now, where's an old lady on her last legs looking for a trophy husband?
Ahh it'll be north of MK. "It is anticipated that Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort will be a part of the Golden Oak community, and will feature a 445-room hotel, spa and 18-hole championship golf course. The design of the hotel is currently underway. Residents will have access to select amenities at the proposed Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort including: the 18-hole golf course, restaurants, facilities for private events and a full service spa." That kind of explains it....but I think they're about 3, 4 years too late on this!
Yeah but it would still be kind of cool. I can't say much more than, WOW! ; $1.5 million and up! ; It's only a $25,000 refundable deposit to hold your spot! ;
Just think of it as the original Epcot concept, dressed up in a tux. ; Yeah, it's not quite in the middle-america family friendliness mode of classic Walt...and I can listen to the arguments day and night how it is bad and greedy and catering to the rich and any other number of arguments...but when it comes right down to it, if I had $20 million, I'd be living there. ; Period. ; It's every facet of the dream I've always wanted - to live full time on property. ; I would have settled for a 2-bedroom DVC unit sold to me for full time use...but if I could afford it, this might be a touch nicer. For those who haven't looked at the map or aren't sure where it is - it's sitting smack next to Fort Wilderness campground, and just down from Port Orleans Riverside. ; There used to be a golf course there called Osprey Ridge. ; It backs up against Bay Lake just east of Wilderness, though it sounds like they'll be leaving much of the lakefront area as preserve, so homes won't be on the water. ; MK will be just the other side of Bay Lake, so fireworks from your balcony. ; Epcot is just the other way, out the front door, so Illuminations from the front porch. ; 2nd (or even 3rd if they build them) story views could be really cool - I would angle for a rooftop viewing deck if I had the money for a custom build. Check out the list of amenities for living there too - sounds like HOA and membership dues are going to be...ah...steep.
If the homes have enough rooms, all we would have to do is have every TMIP Member kick in 10-20k... brought to you by an (HTC) "Incredible" Guy.
There you go, we could all use it as a time share and then for the yearly Pixelmania! trip would could party hard if we wanted to! ; Yeah, I know this coming from the guy who is sleeping during the last Pixelmania!
Osprey Ridge is still open for business. ; They plowed up the Eagle Pines course for this development. ; :'(
Is sleeping thru Pixelmania a new theme, cuz I was "that Guy" 2 years ago. Anyway, can't wait to get home and read the full article, and it did make the front page of our local papers money section. brought to you by an (HTC) "Incredible" Guy.
