This time I visited my home town's cemetery which borders the Seneca River so it is aptly named Riverview Cemetery. Nikon D70/Tokina 11-16, 1/20s, f/14, ISO 200, EV +0.3, 11mm focal length Found the grave stone of one John Barclay who lived to be 74 and died in 1918. A very long life for those times. Nikon D70/18-200VR, 1/60s, f/16, ISO 200, EV 0, 32mm focal length Further investigation of John Barclay's head stone reveals he was a Lieutenant in Company "B" during the Civil War. A little searching revealed Company "B" was in NY 122nd. I also believe he served in Baldwinsville's own 1st Artillery Regiment (Light), Battery "B", which was also known as Pettit's Battery as I found his name and town listed. The town is just a few miles north and west of Baldwinsville. Nikon D70/18-200VR, 1/200s, f/11, ISO 200, EV 0, 112mm focal length Some stones were feeling the effects of time, gravity and environmental changes. Nikon D70/18-200VR, 1/25s, f/8, ISO 200, EV +0.3, 18mm focal length If you have an old cemetery near you, I encourage you to take a slow walk around with your camera. The sirnames of many of the stones and in the link I provided where attached to people I grew up and graduated with. Last year, Gary and I visited Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, NY on another beautiful October day.
