The photos below are of a baseball that was found in the basement of my girlfriends grandmothers Union, New Jersey home. One of the signatures on the ball is Butch Woyt who was a friend of the family and played AAA for a few different teams between 1947 and 1951. We have not determined the actual source of the ball, but one theory is that it was given to Gillian's grandfather by Butch. Other recognizable names include Dick Whitman of the '46-'49 Dodgers and the '50-'51 Phillies, Roy Campanella and many others. Personally, I'm not a big baseball fan but I know a few here would be interested in this. Anyone who is, or may know someone interested in purchasing this, please let me know. Gillian's dad will probably put it on an auction site and end up giving half of the value to the auctioneers.
Thanks Tim! This was done outside on the lawn with a velvet background as the sun was setting. Used a white board to reflect the light into the shadows on the "Dark Side" of the ball. I took about 30 photos because the light kept changing, messing up my manual settings. The sun put a hotspot on the ball so I had to orient it so the hotspot was on the stitching. I was wishing I had some studio lighting to do this indoors as bugs kept landing on my subject! It will be interesting to see if this sells and what it goes for...
