    We are planning a trip to Florida in December for approx 10 days (primarily to WDW) but would like some feedback on what else is there to do/see besides WDW?? ; And if so, how is it possible to get to these places from the WDW reosrt.. I suppose we would need to rent a car for a couple of days? ; Any suggestions??

    Also, is a 6-day park ticket (with the park hopper and water park option) be enough??

    Thanks for all your invaluable suggestions... I appreciate it...

    Hi Jaypee:

    Take a look at some of the places listed here on the board...

    We'll be doing 10 days in the area next Spring (with as much at WDW as I can get away with). ;

    The first time I went to Florida, we didn't go to Disney World. ; We stayed in Kissimme, next to this really neat place called Old Town. It was wonderful - old fashioned general store, an arcade, a carousel and a few other rides; an ice cream parlour etc......

    They had an antique car show every Friday night, and it was just such a blast........we went there nearly every day (I was 15). ; You would need a car to get there I believe, but it is worth the trip if you can make it - I think it is about 30-45 minutes from Disney - not sure though.

    The link Highland3 posted has some great ideas too!

    For transportation you have a couple of options. We rented a car to take us from our cruise ship to Orlando hotel and then air port, the really cool thing is it had GPS so we didn't get lost! I loved that! You also take a means shuttle (Or another shuttle company) so you don't have to worrie about getting lost! The cost normally ranges from 6 bucks a trip to 10 per person! If you have a lot of family members I would call to get a better rate.

    http://www.disneymagic.ca/transportation.html has some info on shuttles and taxi's, vans and rental car agency's. If you have a travel agent ask about hertz they only cost me 25 dollars canadian for 2 days and that was unlimited miles.

    There is lots to see and do besides WDW.
    Old Town was mentioned and I love it there. It's not really big but it is a nice way to spend an afternoon or evening.
    Sea World
    There is a Titanic museum
    BELZ outlet mall for the avid shopper
    If you rent a car you could take a day trip to Cocoa Beach, Daytona, or Tampa
    Hope these suggestions help
