Just reading all the articles about the current status of flights to U.S. desitnations... ; what a mess. ; Some reports of "NO" carryons, some of limited carry-ons.

Just looking at the Ottawa departures board and it looks like things are moving a bit more smootly.

Good luck to anyone flying out in the immediate future!!!!!

I know the airports are crazy......I really feel for anyone flying over the holidays. ; Were lucky that were not flying again until the beginning of April.

My son flew out of Toronto - Pearson early yesterday and it was crazy! ; He was flying to Maui for a friends wedding. ; His flight was Air Canada to Maui, leaving at 9:20 with a changeover in LA (to United) ; We made sure we were in TO more than the recommended 3 hours and there were hundreds of people in line, but the line consisted of people who only needed to check their bags? ; We had pre-printed his boarding pass as others had or printed them from the kiosk when they arrived. ; I'm unsure why such a huge line up just to check bags, unless a lot of people would not normally be checking bags but because of the limitation of only 1 small carry on item everyone had lots to check? ; Bags were not being weighed as limitations are currently being waved and the bags were only tagged for their destination and you were sent right through to customs check-in. ; I need to hear from him yet on how everything went after the bag was checked in, but he was in line from 6:15 a.m. until 7:45, to check his one bag and I do know that the plane was still one hour late leaving the gate? - although he made his connection and is in Maui, poor kid :p
We're flying to Orlando (Disney trip!) out of Buffalo on Jan. 16th, so I'm hoping the process is a little more efficient by then?

I'm flying out of Buffalo next week should be a better experience than flying from Toronto one more reason as if one was needed to avoid YYZ.

    Sheila:

What are you hearing regarding flights to other international destinations (Mexico, Cuba)? ; I tried asking Canjet if there was any impact, specifically related to carry-ons, but got a non-commital answer... referring me the CATSA. ; It only talks about U.S. bound flights.

  7. all announcements concern flights going thru US... ; but expect delays, and expect reduced carry ons and luggage being searched. ; Maybe contact your airline before you go. ; Normal 2 hrs in advance should get there 3 hrs now... don't carry anything on that you don't have to (think book, medicine). ; Don't plan on getting up from your seat once onboard ... It'd be tough to travel with infants right now...
