My desktop computer is being its trip down the Primose Path and last week needed some serious surgery just to get it on to life support. The power supply went toes up and I replaced that only to find that the CD started smoking when I turned the computer back on. That's probably not good. Also my 2nd hard drive no longer spins up so that's out. AND... my Lightroom catalog went for a visit to the Elysian Fields as well. BUT... All of my photos and music were on my trusty Drobo so it's not a total loss. Moral- back your stuff up because you never know when Uh-Oa will strike! (New computer is Asus G20AJ-B11 from Best Buy - who comes up with these model numbers?). I7 Core at 3.6ghz, 16gb RAM, etc...
Thanks for the reminder! As Moose Peterson told us at DLWS, any file you don't have 3 copies of is one you don't care about.
