I really like my Velocity 9. But you don't need the 9 until you're using a very long lens (and carrying more than one)

    Maybe this one:

I guess it depends on what you are looking for: a case type bag, a backpack or a shoulder/sling type bag. The Velocity is designed to go over your head and across your body like a sling, and then you can easily rotate it from front to back. The 5's zipper opens towards you so it would be harder for someone to steal it from your back, and it's easier to access when it's in front of you.

Or you can carry it over one shoulder if you like.

This is the camera bag I have:

I like it because it will take my camera with my 28-300mm lens attached plus 4 other accessories. Plus, it has a front pocket that stores my extra battery and storage cards. The bottom part is where the camera and gear is stored and the top part is a storage place for park necessities. that is where I put my point-and-shoot backup camera, my raincoat, sunblock and snacks.

The one downside is that it can a bit of a bear going through security because of all the unzipping, but I think that holds true for any camera backpack solution you use.

I am looking for a bag that would go on your belt, not a back pack type

I have never used a belt pack because I prefer a shoulder bag, like the 603 Zoom Traveler. When I chose my camera bags, I went to some local stores that had the bags I thought would work and I looked at them and tried them on, etc. before I decided on the one I liked best. Anyway, I like Tamrac bags the best... good quality and they're made in the USA.

I think you will find that a belt case for a dSLR is a little hard to come by - it will be bulky.

But there are belt-type cases out there.

This is bulky but it has a decent amount of space. This was one of my favorite bags that I used back when film ruled. During Fantasmic!. When I had to use high speed rewind, drop the cassette, load the next one and resume shooting.

rlongenbach, I like that tamrac shoulder bag that you posted earlier in this conversation. It is exactly what I would love to have. Simple, yet big enough to carry my camera and 2 lenses that I have. Thanks. :)

    You're welcome.

Well, I've gone through my own share of bags. My Velocity 9 replaced my old Tamrac SLR Zoom bag. Basic, simple, but it was almost 10 years old. And wasn't *big* enough for my needs. (Take the Velocity 9 and add external lens cases.....)

i really like the idea of a waist attachment. I looked at your links they are nice but dont you feel they might be too large?
