I know this is unusual, but can anyone recommend a good camera strap? I am looking for a simple black cushioned strap, without all the quick release buckles. Locally, I can only find a loweprowe at Ritz, which I bought, but the buckles keep rubbing my camera lcd when its in my bag, and I am worried about the long term affects of that. Plus, the quick release scares me about them coming loose. I superglued mine shut, I'm so worried. I keep looking online for a strap, but I cannot find what I want. thanks
i currently use optech straps, i use the quick release and have never had it come loose ever, they also make non qr models, this is the first camera strap i ever found to be comfortable, particularly with a larger lens such as 200 2.8 or 300 f4 prime with converter some complain they are a little too spongy but i find it useable all day long, esp at disney or on a trip walking around a city all day i also like that it places the camera right above my hip, i spent a lot of years carrying a weapon and i'm used to weapon awareness so it feels natural to have my camera there, and to be having my hand on/near it in crowds upstrap also makes a product many review favorably, both can be found at major mail order houses such as b&h, adorama, and can be ordered direct, links below http://optechusa.com/ http://www.upstrap-pro.com/
i made my own 'quick release' by feeding split rings (like the ones on keychains) thru the strap loops on the camera, then using the clips from a lanyard on the strap itself. just clip the strap to the split rings and there you go. works great.
Thanks Gary, I am now using an Optech Super Classic Strap. This is exactly what I was looking for in design (flexible skinny strap except for the cushion) The buckles are up near the cushion. On my old strap all the hardware was right at the camera, and it made it verk clunky feeling. Tim, I kind of do what you said. I feed the strap through split rings and then attach the rings to the camera. Not really quick release, but it seems to let the camera hang a little "looser"
glad to be a help, this is a good forum to ask about equipment, we don't do that N vs C flaming about equipment brands and we all really want to sincerely contribute to everyone's enjoyment of this wonderful hobby of ours gary
I have one of those Mickey camera straps, and I can't figure out how to use it! I have a canon powershot G7 and it has the mesh like strap that threads thru.. but I can't figure out what the rubber tag with hole and the V shaped ring do? They look like I could just slide them off and attach just like my regular camera strap that came with the camera. Any insight would be appreciated.
Anyway you can post a pic of the V ring and rubber tag? I never bought one of those and all I can find online is a picture of it in the package.
