I know it's hard to get through the translation, but....wow. Considering the source, this appears to be legit.

Still don't know how the physics of it will exactly work, but if they get lenses to resolve for P&S down to the same pixel size.......

It almost sounds like they are planning the 30 MP version for the 1Ds MkIII.

yeah, once the industry figures out SDHC better. The new SDHC cards are having R/W speed issues compared to original SD. Even the Extreme III 4 GB card is only 1/3 as fast as the 2GB Extreme III (SDHC v SD). Yes, compact flash is still out there, but we're heading to the days of shooting to a portable hard drive that is tethered. Actually we're already there.

You mention the challenge of getting P&S lenses that can resolve enough detail.. but.. how many 35mm lenses could resolve 50 megapixels worth of detail?

Really.. I'd settle for an ultra low noise 30MP full frame sensor. If they want new concepts to tackle how about an SLR designed for long exposure shooting with a built in peltier cooler? That's really not that difficult to do, the only tricky point is that the heat sink would tend to exit the body at the rear, where LCD screens typically are now. Plus of course you'd need a lot more battery power.

Well, if they can get a P&S lens that can resolve 10 MP, I'm sure they can get a 35mm lens to do the same. Now granted, it's going to be at least an 82mm filter size, just like the new 16-35/2.8L II USM. I heard something about the luxury primes having the best chance with the larger sensors.
