Rob G says street is $4999. However, he was NOT one of the beta testers, which will call the AF issue into question. ; Especially since he was the leader in proving the problem with the Mark III. ; If Canon didn't want him to test it, it may mean something. ; (or it may not) Since it's a brand new AF, Paul, I would wait until it's been out in the field for a while. Besides, last time, every store only got 2 bodies every 2 weeks, so a waiting list will probably be developed.

The EOS 1D Mk (whatever) has always been an APS-H crop camera. 1.3x crop. ; But no EF-S, so the widest you can go with a Canon lens is 18mm. ; And this is also why the D3s now has 1.2 and 1.5 crop modes. ; 12mp on the D3s at 1.2 crop gives you 8mp, which is the gold standard for sports photography - it was the MP of the 1DMk2(n).
Honestly, I like the 1.3 factor. Personally, it falls nicely in the sweet part of most lenses and allows for decent cropping when needed. For what I shoot the most it is the best fit for me. All the debate as to what is better, whether it is 1.x 1.3x and or 1.6x, seems overblown on most discussions. I have seen incredible shots, with point and shoots none the less, that most people would never be able to tell the difference.
Hi ISO sample update: Editors' note: The images taken with the pre-production unit of the EOS 1D Mark IV have been removed at Canon's request, as we will be getting the actual review unit. Watch out for the sample shots to come.
