Canon's Picture Styles

    trying to put my new lens through the paces :) and the male cardinal stopped by the corner of the yard briefly. His mate drew me outside as she was eating from the feeder.

    And here is the same image, using the CLEAR picture style.

    I prefer the clear style a little more for this picture but I know it blows the details out of the head of the cardinal.

  2. I personally can't stand the "clear" picture style. The contrast level's been boost far too high and the level of detail just disappears. Great to take pics of clouds and clouds only, though. But it's a personal taste, I guess.

    Now for the pics above, if the choice is between the top and the bottom ("clear"), then I'll choose the bottom since the top one seems to be washed out, IMHO.

    i prefer #2 also, but i agree with kelly. personally, i never use the presets as i just dont like the results. but, that is just me.

    That's an advantage of RAW, and DPP. Being able to choose the best one.

    lately i have found new love for capture one pro.
    i just dont like DPP at all. i hate the interface.
