Since I've been trying to get back through and upload some of my digital pics from before December 2006 (where my current gallery basically starts from), I've been finding some cool shots that I like and forgot about for a while. This was from the beginning of 2006, in January. I had come into Epcot in the early evening having just arrived at Boardwalk and checked in...we decided to go eat at Italy that night. When we were walking around the Boardwalk, it was a lovely sunset...blues and some clouds, pretty enough to make me want to snap a shot: By the time we were coming through Int'l Gateway, the sunset skies were getting fiercely red...the glow was amazing. We were walking through the tree cover and I noticed some red glow coming through the branches, but couldn't really see the sky and what it looked like...until I hit the bridge from UK to France, and caught the view to the west. It was one of those WOW! skies. I hadn't even unpacked my bigger camera when we checked in, but I definitely felt like my habit of always bringing a compact camera with me everywhere I go had just been validated and justified 100%! I had my tiny little 4MP Sony L1 with me, and managed a few shots of the stunning scene: Just thought I'd share some beautiful skies from the archives!
Thank you Rog & Craig. Though I've seen and shot many lovely sunsets at Disney, this one was one of the most vivid I can remember in a while.
Gorgeous, Justin! All last week I was hoping for some clouds at sunset and never got them. Some great skys in the mornings thru noon time and then by sunset, just clear. I did like the one shot I got of Canada but that was about it on this trip. Guess I'll have to go back until I see something like this one. Darn it!
Thank you. Sometimes you just get lucky...this was once, 3 years ago, and I haven't seen something quite like it since. But there are all kinds of great sunset skies...central Florida gets some very nice ones!
Wow, that last picture is really amazing! If you hadn't told me it was Epcot, I would have thought it really was Paris!
Thanks WDWmemories. I do like to try to take photos like that in Epcot - zoom in and just show skylines or details so it looks like you could really be there. Disney's attention to detail and design work is so solid, which helps!
Thanks Scott. Wish I had my DSLR and a nice wide lens...but since I wasn't planning on taking any photos that night, this was a great example of why I keep a subcompact camera with me everywhere I go - just in case something like this happens, you don't have to kick yourself for not having a camera!
Thanks! Me too...skies are always a favorite subject of mine, and central Florida's got some good ones.
