We have a collection of old travel posters from WDW thanks to Ebay. I am going to play with my photos and make some of my own using old logos and old sayings. Up first: The Contemporary Resort. I took one of my photos into corel and used the time machine to make it look like the late 60's to early 70's. Then I did the rest in Acdsee photo editor. coming soon, The Polynesian Village
That is great! I love the old logos. I believe most of the boats on the seven seas still have the ollld wdw logo. And of course my favorite, the old Epcot logo on the WS side of SSE.
<ahem> EPCOT Center logo. But I agree. I was excited when I saw the wheelchair at DAK in 07 with that logo.
I have a font on my computer that can write the old Futureworld logos maybe I should do something with that.
I really like this idea. I'd like to see this style applied to the rides. Back when I was on a Horizons kick, downloading everything related to the ride that I could find (TONS of music, several full length video ride throughs, and some pictures), I ran into a low resolution copy of a promotional poster for it. http://www.horizons1.com/img/poster.jpg There, that's what I found. It's low resolution, but it still stirs something deep inside me. I'm trying to describe what it is I feel, but I don't have the words. For me, the caption is spot on. I DO dream of the sort of thing that that ride contained. Perhaps the ride is why, it's entirely likely that it influenced me, I was young and malleable back then. I love the horizon, with the dramatic sunset colors on the horizon dimming to pitch black with stars at the top. I'm not saying I want to see things that look exactly like this. I'd just like to see this retro styling applied to the rides of today, even if they're too new to have ever had retro styled posters. Give me a nostalgic look at rides that are too new to have ever been given that treatment in the first place. I'd give it a try... but this sort of graphic arts is exactly the sort of thing that I have no talent with. I can't coordinate color schemes, I can't balance the proportions of the sizes of the various elements... It's why I got into photography, that way I just use what I'm given and have to figure out how to use it instead of making it up from scratch.
