Roger's post from Sea World reminded me of this picture that I took of Dawn Brancheau just one day before she was tragically killed. ; Her pony tail is ; clearly visible. ; I agree that OSHA probably will never ever again allow humans in the water with the animals. ; We had that opportunity to return to Sea World two days after Dawn's death and the Shamu show was entirely different with all of the trainers staying at least 3 feet back from the edge of the water. ; The show was dedicated to Dawn.
I don't think Dawn would have wanted the interaction to stop. ; The show doesn't have the same spirit without the humans being in the water with them.
Roger, I couldn't agree more. ; I am sure she would not have wanted the interaction to stop. ; She had dedicated her life to it, and now because of the loss they can't continue. Great shots! ; I always loved watching the people and the whales interact. ; It was amazing to watch.
But the one thing that stays consistent in America is....over reaction, over compensation, over adjustment. ;
Thanks for sharing these. Do you know if the interaction stopped at the other Sea World Parks as well?
All of the Sea World parks now prohibit their Orca trainers from getting in the water with them. ; Which may have slowed their response to the male that died in San Diego the other day.
