dining goes online

  1. another reason to use your travel agent to make your Disney reservations... :)

    from the disney travel agent newsletter... ; (god help the "holy moley, we're live" first little while... even last week, the res agents I spoke with at Disney still hadn't had training on this... so fingers crossed.... but, no reason to suspect it would be any more painful, traumatic than any other new system change :)...)

    Is this for travel agents to book dining, or is it for anyone on the web? ; Have you had a chance to use it and how easy is it to search and find availability? ; I'm sure Disney dining staff were spending lots of time on the phone with bookings and then dealing with changes prior to arrivals. ;
    I like the idea if it is working well, but if it is for the travel agents to complete I'm certain that must add to your work load!!

  3. doesn't go live until May 26th and it's supposed to be for travel agents - actually, I can't wait to try it. ; I tire of making phone calls and someone else telling me availability. I'd rather be able to play with the spots, and know I can get H&V the night that Fantasmic is on, and if I can't get Hoop Dee Doo for someone on their preferred night find it elsewhere, etc... ; I"ll let you know how it goes...

    Thanks for the info. ; Perhaps if it works well for the travel agents it will be rolled out for registered guests. ; We tend to plan our days around our ADR's once in place, so I guess it's better for you to play with a list of dining wishes when you know your clients plans and expectations, then they can plan their days. ; It is difficult on the phone. ; Sometimes i feel like I'm being too particular, whereas if I could do it myself I would search forever!
    Keep us in the loop on how it works out. ;

  5. Hi Deblen4 - like you, I plan out my days (and my clients) around ADRs - I build a customized excel spreadsheet as a freebie perk for my clients, and plug in hours of parades, fireworks, extra magic hours, etc. - then go for the ADRs I know I (they) want - it's easier to plan Chef Mickey's for breakfast if you know which mornings MK opens early, for example - do that another day, or don't do Hoop Dee Doo a night that MK is open late, Fantasmic! is only on select nights now, so have to plan any Fantasmic! dinner packages for those nights... and if can do when HS is open late, all the better.

    I think from previous posts there are a lot of planners around these parts (like me and you) - planning your ADRs in advance certainly helps. ; I had a client book a Disney trip last night, and was just SHOCKED they couldn't get Chef Mickey's for the date and time they are going (in about 6 weeks) - god help them had they wanted til they got there! :) ; Of course, I played with dates and times to get them a ressie while they're there, but planning in advance is the only way to go!

    So this online thing.......Has it put regular calling out of whack????

    I have a friend who may have lost all her ADRs due to systems going down!

    Frustration to the MAX!

    I wish DVC at least had an online availability access.
