For a LONG time, a lot of Canadians were upset that we couldn't get the Disney VISA (myself included). ; If you haven't heard yet, VISA is now offering a credit card where you can rack up 'points' to exchange for travel ANYWHERE (Disney included). ; What separates this card from the Disney VISA is that you can use the points to pay for the ENTIRE vacation (car rental/air etc) and not just the Disney portion of your stay. More information on the card can be found here: http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/tdvisa/travel_cards.jsp I ordered mine yesterday. ; ;D
Already got it. ; Its the old TD GOld Travel Visa. ; Awesome card! ; Weve booked all kinds of travel with it. ; One of the new benefits is that it includes medical and cancellation insurance on trips you book with it. ; As silly as this sounds, I like the benefits of the card, but its ugly. ; Dark green. ; I prefered having the old gold one. ; It made me feel special. ; Told ya it was silly!
There is one little hitch though. ; They give you triple the rewards if you book your future travel through them. ; So although you can any travel agent they still make it very attractive to book through them. ; Both cruises I have booked with them. ; They have given me a 5% discount of the DCL price plus I've used points which gives me a large discount. ; Hard to beat. My last flights I booked through Airtran. ; I got there price off the interenet and then TD travel booked it for me and I was able to apply points to it. I think this card is awesome!
Jeez... ; you guys almost have me convinced to switch. ; I already have a TD visa... but no points or bonuses.
I'm in the minority here ... but I personally did not like the card at all. We were given the old TD Gold Travel card a few months ago when we opened a second chequing account. They gave us bonus points at the time for opening, and there was no annual fee. I decided to use the points to cover our car rental over the last trip. Frankly, I'm such an anal planner that I could have easily reserved a car for under $150/week. However, since I had $300 in travel dollars earned, I thought I would use them. Firstly, the TA could not find any car rentals for under $300! I actually had him on the phone with me while I checked all the rental websites on my computer, and easily found cars. I ended up walking him through the Dollar website step by step so that he could reserve it for me ... after I had it all on the screen in front of me! My total came to $263 with taxes, but since they only credit you in $50 increments, I lost the difference of $37. But, it was a free rental. I instantly decided this process was not worth the hassle. Why should I have to do all this research to walk a TA through it. Then, a few weeks back we received the info on the new card which basically does make you do all the work. I really didn't read all the details because of all the point cards we have, this was the worst customer service. I'll stick to my dividend VISA that gives me the cash directly, and then I can do with it what I like ... or my AMEX airmiles which I can use to collect for WDW passes.
I wanted to add that I'm still mad that we can't get the Disney VISA ... Chase has other cards up here. It was quite insulting seeing them push the card down there ... get a free DisneyWorld tote when you apply... get discounts off all your Disney purchases... use your points for your meals... invitation to Disney-Visa-only character greetings and activities .... ; WHAT DISCRIMINATION! ;
