Disney's Pleasure Island: The new look

  1. Thursday night's Pleasure Island jaunt was my first time seeing the "new bridge" without the construction walls up. Wow. It's seamless.

In fact, I walked up it, saw the Comedy Warehouse, and had to stop and orient myself. "Wasn't the West End stage here?" I said aloud. And indeed, it was. But the new bridge integrates so seemlessly into the old design, you would never know there had been a change.

The old staircase that was the entrance to that side of the island is still there, blocked off when I visited.

And there seem to be sparkly new bathrooms next to the BET Club. I say "seem to be" because they may have been there all along and I never noticed them. That whole area seems cleaned up, making the BET Club look more prominent and inviting.

Further along, where a video stage used to be, you can now see out over the water. And the boat-transportation system there has been stepped up. (Though if I read the sign right, the boats stop at 11:30 -- when a lot of people are just coming to PI.)

There is still a whole block of empty building, which is odd. But the new Harley store is open and roaring.

Overall, looks great. Though I wonder what Frankie and the West End Boys are doing these days?
