i know its not my place, as i'm still new, but would the ability to use embedded images. i seen on dev art. they have a bit of code that posts the image along with a credit of who did it, plus with a link back to the full size version, it would cut down on load time for some threads.
ok, i added a new modification package that SHOULD take care of this... you use the bbc code IMGT in square braces instead of IMG in square braces to post a thumbnail which links back to the original. hope this helps. note that the add image button above still does this the old way. i have no preference either way on how you want to post your images. here is a test http://magicinpixels.stormhosts.net/gallery/photos/normal/Downtown_Disney_Marketplace_00100.jpg[/imgt] [This attachment has been purged. Assuming that the thumbnails that Dean has posted in some recent threads (like the Epcot group of three) are done using this new tag, I should point out that it doesn't seem to be using thumbnails at all, it appears to be telling the browser to load up the entire full resolution picture and then shrink it down to fit the thumbnail sizing. I realized this when I watched the pages loading up, those tiny thumbnails seemed to be loading for an awfully long time, also it looked like they were progressive jpgs being loaded in in increasing detail levels. When I right click on them they show up as being around 200-350KB, which is a bit large for a 90x100 pixel image. At least the load is off the TMIP site, the images definitely are being loaded off of Deviantart. But I just wanted to make the point that making a page full of these thumbnails is not really changing the page loading time, just making the page smaller. Which is STILL a useful thing to me, it's okay at first but sometimes a thread becomes more of a discussion about the images. Then I keep finding that when I'm trying to scroll down to read the new comments every 4 seconds or so the page jumps down as a new images loads and makes the thread that much bigger. I can't read the rest of the thread until all the images finish loading and altering the size of the page. At a guess I think that this should avoid that, especially in posts like "more random shots" from Hollywood Studios, it's done in a single row which means once one image loads the page size is set. I tried checking up at Deviantart to find another way, but I promptly developed a crushing headache that is curtailing my problem solving desire. Or, for that matter, my desire to read ANYTHING. I'm not suggesting DA gave it to me, I love that place, I go there for photographic inspiration sometimes. I'm just headache prone and after a spree of at least months nearly headache free they're suddenly back with a vengeance and this one had bad timing. Actually I have one idea so far. The code produced by the "share this/blog it" function when you select live journal seems to work. It's clumsy, you have to go to the live journal page it opens up and select html view and then copy all that code over here. Here, let me demonstrate with something I grabbed off there as an example, also as an example of what I spend my time in DeviantArt viewing: Tokay by ~TRA-DA on deviantART Now I'm off to get some drugs. By which of course I mean over the counter pain medication.
