In Epcot’s Innoventions plaza, a new wind is blowing…literally. Opening in late August, “StormStruck: The Tale of Two Homes” will be a new exhibit that uses 3D technology and surround sound to put visitors in the Category 4 winds of Hurricane Charley. The creators of the exhibit want visitors to see how the fortification of a home against a storm can affect how the house weathers the storm. Of the two houses presented, one will survive the storm and the other will not. The exhibit will be sponsored for three years by the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes which is a nonprofit that promotes disaster safety and helps create homes that will survive hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. Hurricane Charley struck in August 2004 and caused nearly $7 billion in property damage in Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center.
I thinks this sound really cool, but hopefully it doesn't traumatize kids from the hurricane prone and tornado prone areas. I'd love to check it out!
I can't wait either. ; I have always been intrigued by hurricanes and such, it should be fun to just experience that kind of wind power.
