I noticed a big increase in my Flickr activity over the last two days, and traced it back to Flickr's Explore for June 9, 2011. ; Apparently one of my photos finally met their "interestingness" criteria. While the photo is nice, I think there are some much more "interesting" photos in my stream. ; What do you think?
I have no idea what's up with Flickr explore. ; I would imagine its tied into some ratio of views, favorites, and comments but I could be way off. ; I was told, quite clearly, by a person who used to post here awhile ago that if you want people to comment on your pictures and favorite them, you need to do the same. ; Basically, this person was saying that Flickr is one big popularity contest. ; I wish I had the time for that. Posted from my htc Thunderbolt.
I've heard the same thing, but the photo in question had no comments, no favorites and not that many views. ; According to Big Huge Labs, there is some top-secret mysterious computer algorithm used by Flickr to create the "interestingness" score. ; It's certainly a mystery to me, especially compared to almost all of the other photos that Flickr decides are interesting.
