I know I'm posting a lot of questions. Would you recommend buying a flash or just stick with my on camera flash?

That depends on how much you use it... I think that using an off camera flash is going to give you better results than an on camera flash, but if you almost never use flash in your photography, is it worth purchasing one and carrying it around. I never used to use flash so I didn't have one, but now that I am taking architecture photos for the firm I work for, I use one a lot. So, it depends on your shooting habits.

As a side note, Strobist is a great resource for using flash.

i agree with Michael. Dont buy one just because... Buy one when you feel that you are missing opportunities with the on board flash. I waited about 10 monthes, before I bought an external. And the main reason was the shadow cast by my lens at 18mm from the onboard flash.
Then I only bought the sb400. Its a $100 flash!
I do like it a lot. No shadows, much more even coverage, and very rare red eye.
And thats just from Nikons cheapest flash!
I think you need to be a little careful about what will work with your camera. I think you can only use sb400, sb600, or sb800.

Nikon is so far ahead of Canon in terms of flash still. Cheapest one, low profile, and yet it still can tilt!
