If anyone is planning on staying in the Harrisburg / Central PA region for Mouse Meets, allow me to recommend three attractions worth checking out. First is Roadside America, an old-style roadside attraction located about an hour from Harrisburg. From their website: "ROADSIDE AMERICA is an unforgettable panorama of life in rural United States. The exhibit spans more than two hundred years in time and lets you see, in exquisite miniature, how people lived and worked in pioneer days … through the years since then … right up to the present." This is totally worth anyone's time who has an appreciation for the kitsch that is quickly vanishing. Additional pictures I took are here (though if you want to go, don't spoil too much): http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremyes/s ... 964161393/ Second, there is Northlandz, which is similar to Roadside America, except larger than you can possibly imagine, and filtered through the mind of Tim Burton. This is about 2 and a half hours from Harrisburg, and is something you may never forget. Pictures here, same spoiler warnings apply: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremyes/s ... 961610786/ Third is Knoebles Grove, a family friendly amusement park about an hour and a half north of Harrisburg. Highlights include: one of the top ranked wooden roller coasters in the country, the Phoenix, free parking, free admission, a superb, Haunted House, and some great food.
