  1. Hey all,

I've been playing around with auto-bracketing, HDR and tone mapping. I didn't see anyone mention this, so I thought I'd make sure everyone knows about it...

A lot of people use Photomatrix Pro to assemble HDRs and do their tone mapping. From the reviews I've read, everyone thinks it does a great job. They let you try it for free, and it's only $99 if you want to keep it.

BUT... Photomatrix also offers a freeware version called Photomatrix Basic. Totally free. So if you're thinking about tinkering around with with HDR, check it out!

Will be shooting some auto-brackets this weekend, will post if I get anything I'm proud of!

Thanks for posting. As I learn more about this I will probably look to download it.

  3. I saw that too but unfortunately for me its a Windows version :(...so I loaded it on my Dad's computer haha. I think the more recent version is more sophisitcated as the freeware version didnt line up the three different exposures for my France shot as well.

  4. Yeah, I'm noticing that too. I'm going to use my remote shutter release to see if that helps. If not, it may be time to bite the bullet and spend the $99.

There's another program that I've heard is good, and it is only around $25. Can't recall the name at the moment.
