So I had computer problems here at work yesterday afternoon. ; I got no work done at all. I had to get our Edmonton office to try to fix the problem. ; They made it even worse. ; No one there understands the program I use but they think they do. Anyways, so I had to use another computer and got behind big time on work. ; But come to find out all I had to do was defrag my computer. ; Go figure. ; We were never told to do that, but after all that yesterday that is what my fixed in Edmonton found out. ; So when in doubt, if things get slow on your computer...DEFRAG!!!!! ; Had I known, I would have done that, but we have been having so many issues with the program and the new updates for Microsoft Office, I thought it might have been more to it.

Defragging is just one of those things that you never seem to have to do. ; Our laptops at work automatically defrag... but I haven't noticed it with the desktops.

Funny... our 'puters at work used to do it automatically (in fact, they had disabled the utility on the machines to ensure only THEY did it), but not any more. ; The utility is flawed, though. ; I just analyzed one of my drives... it's showing up almost entirely red (fragmented), but the utility is telling me that I don't need to defrag it ?! ; Crazy. ; Also good to check your CPU usage (through the task manager), free space, and see if you have any 'memory leaks' (also Task Manager)... all of those can bog down a machine.

My work computer needs to be done desperatley. ; I tried on Friday, and after 4 hours it was only at 52% - it kept restarting back to zero........I think I may leave it on overnight and try it that way - anyone know if that will cause a problem?

I am not hooked up to a network (well, my internet is but that's it)
