Just did a search and it doesn't look like there is much for Canadians to volunteer for. DD would love to help with Animals but the only thing I found was in the states? and probably for a week day? Hope they add throughout the year!
I had the same problem ... there doesn't seem to be anything in the GTA for the under 10s. They originally advertised the zoo - maybe later in the year. ; ???
I was dissapointed that Boy Scouts and Girl Guides are not included in Canada. Girl Guides are included in the U.S. I wonder if they will be adding more as the year progresses?
Someone brought up the issue of a Police Check on volunteers and for a one day stint not worth the organizations time to do such a check! I do hope that they add more thruout the year!
For Boy Scouts you don't need a police check if you're a casual helper. Many parents and high school students often help leaders with running activities. Leaders who will be supervising the children need the police checks. I'm not sure what the rules are for other organizations.
I take it you've looked at this list and it's not there? ; I'll ask my Disney DSM.... http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disney ... Day-Search
input from my Disney DSM ; (District Sales Manager) re: Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, and differences between US and Can... === There will undoubtedly be more opportunities in the US. ; The organization “Volunteer Canada” is taking care of all the Canadian opportunities. It all depends on what types of things are happening in and around the community you live in. ; Also, events will be added & removed as the year progresses. ;
I went back on tonight and they have added quite a few more opportunities for kids. ; I have a request in for the Food Bank in Concord which takes ages 6 and up. They also had Daffodil sellers in March for 6 and up.
For those of you with kids in Scouts Canada programs - just received the following for our group. We'll be signing up - check with your leaders to see if they can do the same!
