According to Trey Ratcliff's interview with the Google Photos team, they aren't planning to kill off the filters. ; Hopefully that doesn't change
I would imagine that you will see the filters added to Picasa and/or Google+. ; They have been working with photographers like Trey to build something really great for photo enthusiasts and photographers over at Google+
Yeah I didn't think they were planning on killing off the existing products BUT I don't see Google trying to create a Lightroom competitor, although.....
