Here's a few from a different perspective: And a couple more. In defense of myself here...these two were taken with an ultra-compact Sony DSC-L1 cranked up to ISO400, and handheld just after dusk: I've got to take a few more in Downtown Disney!
Tim, that shot was taken from a 20-something floor room at the *cough*Wyndam Palace*cough* hotel. I'm embarrased to mention that I was staying off Disney property, but I had made a last-minute decision to head up to Disney last year for Thanksgiving weekend, and could only get a DVC room for 3 of the 4 nights. So I took a cheap-o room at the Wyndam for the extra day - $59 for a great high tower view. It gave a very interesting perspective on Downtown Disney! It was a cold and clear night, so the sky was gorgeous...I had just driven up and checked in when I went on the balcony and saw the lights of West End and PI. Thanks for the comments. I've got alot more this trip too...but work will interfere with getting them resized, processed, and uploaded, so I probably won't get them posted until the weekend.
I like the perspective of those shots from the Wyndam Palace. I didn't realize that anything was close enough to that area to get shots like that.
The Wyndam is actually a pretty nice place to stay, if you can't make it on Disney property but still want to feel like you are. It is RIGHT across the street from Rainforest Cafe...the entrance is across from Saratoga Springs' back exit. You don't ever need your car when you're staying there - you just walk out the back door of the hotel, across the street to the Marketplace bus stop, and you've got Disney transportation to anywhere (might have to take a transfer for some places...but the convenience of Disney transportation is well worth it). With Marketplace and Downtown Disney right across the street, you've got a wonderful selection of places to eat and things to do at night - and the hotel itself even has a decent bar and a pretty good restaurant (called "The Outback', but NOT part of the steakhouse chain). The rooms are nicely furnished (Sealy matressses, Herman Miller chairs) and the tower rooms all have balconies with great views. They offer amazing off-season rates...so when you can't get a place in Disney, or just want to go on-the-cheap, you can stay in a pretty nice room with a great view in a classy hotel right at DD for around the same price as Allstar, and still get the Disney transpo. I've stayed there 3 times, and I'm sure I'll end up there again at some point, when I've used up all my DVC points, or don't want to waste them on a small trip!
