How you book your trips?

How do you book your trips? I go through a travel agent(same lady every time) and she keeps track of any promotions, etc. I have a couple co-workers that swear the only way to book is through Disney?

You have the right idea. Disney won't tell you when the price goes down, but your travel agent should.

99% of my stays are DVC, so I just book everything online and do updates over the phone directly with the DVC. But otherwise, I have a friend who became a Disney centric Travel Agent so if I’m staying on a cash reservation I now throw the business his way.

  4. I do all the booking myself which I like to think of as "Booking.MOM". I also call Disney every few weeks and find out if there are any discounts or promotions that can be applied to my room.

Last year, for the first time in forever, there were no discounts to be had, so I paid full price for a value room that was dirty and tiny. I am now staying off site since I will have my car with me. I booked that myself too after researching all the resorts in the area myself.

The room was dirty and tiny? Where did you stay? I’ve stayed twice at POR, this last time we were in Acadian and didn’t care for being on the 3rd floor. I’m thinking about Pop, Music or AOA for Pixelmania.

  6. I stayed at Pop Century Dec. 2017. I'm staying off site for October's Pixelmania.

To sum up my opinion I do not believe that Disney resorts, especially Pop Century, are a good value these days as service and the physical plant is in decline and the prices and surliness of cast members is increasing. I have decided not to give my hotel room money to Disney and I'm staying off site. I will have my personal car so staying off site will work nicely for me. I'll lose access to the rides during Extra magic hours and I will only be able to book fast passes at 30 days out since I have an annual pass.

All this is fine with me. With the money I am saving by staying off site, every 3rd day is free when compared to Disney hotels. Between Housekeeping staff at Disney demanding immediate entry to your room for "inspections" (and pounding on the door until they gain entry) to crap up-charging for things like parking and dysfunctional bus service and housekeeping I am done for awhile at Disney Resorts if I am the one paying for the room.

Your mileage may vary... Be sure to book your room by MARCH 20th to avoid the new daily $13 parking fee, if you should decide to rent a car.

Pop used to be my go to resort. Disney ruined it with the industrial room remodel that is designed to decrease the amount of daily cleaning they are willing to do. Bus service has gotten worse and worse and the prices for the rooms are obscene IMHO. Putting up with all that crap is beyond my tolerance. I'm not up on the All star Resorts but they haven't been remodeled yet so they might be more comfortable.

You will have to decide for yourself if staying at a Disney resort is the right choice for you. All I'm saying is that it is not the right choice for me so please keep that in mind.

Thank you for the information. I have to price out an off site hotel and price out a rental car.

You have to remember that @Joanie Eddis-Koch and I seem to be the only people who are not enamored with the latest Pop refurbishment. As I've said elsewhere, most of the reaction that I've read or heard is overwhelmingly positive. My opinion is not preventing me from booking a room there for Pixelmania 2018, but I am looking for a small mop that I can store in my Owner's Locker. I guess EMH is more important to me than having to climb a ladder to get into a bed covered with a dozen excess pillows.
