I just got the new Nikon 16-80 DX lens, I love it! I have noticed that my good old 18-200 is not as "sharp" on the new d7100 camera. Plus my old lens has a lot of wobble in the telescoping part. I have had the old lens since 2006, its been on three bodies now, the D80, D300 and the D7100. Last year I rented the 18-300 from Kingdom Camera Rentals. I didn't care for that lens so much. it was too big and heavy compared to the 18-200 and the image quality wasn't worth the effort to carry that lens, so I passed on buying that one. For several years, I have had my eye on getting the 17-55 f2.8 lens, so when Nikon announced this new 16-80 I was excited. it's pretty fast, having a variable 2.8-4, which is fast enough for what I need. plus it has all the new bells and whistles from Nikon, including VR, which the 17-55 does not have. it is lighter and cheaper than the 17-55 also. But most importantly, its sharp! it looks as sharp as my primes!
