It's roughly half-way to St. Patrick's Day, which in Indianapolis means that it's time for the annual Indy Irish Fest. As usual, I tried to spend as much time as I could downtown enjoying lots of Irish music and Irish beer. One of the first bands that I saw, the Colin Farrell Band, was comprised of three musicians representing the great Celtic nations of Ireland, Scotland and Texas. I had the strangest feeling that I had seen two of them somewhere before. Thankfully, before their set ended. I remembered that I had seen them at Epcot as part of Quickstep, a group that played in the streets of the UK pavilion. Catch Them While You Can Dan Lowery (left, playing flute) and Alan Murray (second from right, playing bouzouki) are now touring with Colin Farrel. If you get the chance, be sure to check the band out. Another of the fine Irish groups at the festival is called Billow Wood. I had never seen them before, but really enjoyed their music. I checked out their tour schedule and saw that they are playing at Raglan Road in Disney Springs from September 24 to October 2. They may also be there around Labor Day 2019. With luck, they'll be back in Indy next September as well.
Just a random update to the above post: in 2017 Colin Farrell replaced Jason Thomas as Off Kilter's fiddler. I had seen him with the band at Celtic Fest Ohio in June, 2017, but never made the connection.
Sooo... not the actor? Also, I think that link for the band is a nefarious redirect, might want to double check it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
