Thanks, guys! ; I had hoped as the Sun set it would light up those clouds in color but in never happened. ; I did ask for clouds so I can not complain...too much. ; ;)

Really like these a lot. I tried the second shot during the day with the ND filter. Even tho I got the blurred monorail in it, without the colors, it's not nearly as pleasing as it is at night.

Here's my try during the day. Not nearly as impressive as at night. This is also what happens when you overturn a variable ND filter. The manual warns about strange results, and sure enough, that's what you get.

I don't know...I like the effects. ; Gives it a Not of This World looking effect. ; How long was that exposure?

Scott, it was really bright when I took that. Stopped down to f/22, with the 8 stop variable ND filter cranked past full, and the longest time I got was still only 1/2 second.

    That Florida Sun is bright!

    John,

That's when a tripod and a Split Neutral Density filter comes in handy. ; You can still pull detail out of the lower half but it's easier if you can do that mostly in the camera.

Yep, I even used a tripod. ; I think I took it off my backpack, set up, took two shots and broke it down in about 2 minutes. ; I suppose more time would help. ; No dice in the split ND, dont have one of those.

well that's why every photographer here on tmip needs to get on over to b&h and create a public wish list, then leave hints all about with relatives as christmas approaches

I just don't get how people use those split ND filters. It'd have to be rare that the composure you want coincides with the graduation of the filter. So do you normally just compose that portion of the frame you want and crop?

Got me one of those, but I only put the expensive items on it!
