Lake Yellowstone Hotel by RogerL2013, on Flickr Imagine the Contemporary being built in three phases...with each building actually being built *next/attached* to the previous one. I know the pic sucks (moving boat, through a window etc) but looking from the left: First roof drop off - original hotel (1891) Second section (1903) and the greco/roman columns added in the second phase. They didn't even build it at the same level - inside there are steps up into the section. Third section (1922/1923)- the entire right half. The last section had to wait until a tent camping "hotel" was closed. The tent camping hotel was opened as an alternative to the rates being charged guests in the Lake Hotel. Lake Yellowstone Hotel by RogerL2013, on Flickr Xanterra is working on a multi million dollar refurb of the hotel. The day of our visit they had done slurry sealing to the main entrance drive, and as you can see, the roof was still a ways off from being done. But in this pic you can see the solarium that I mentioned in the Old Faithful Inn thread.
