OK. I am going to DL next Tuesday and this weekend I will be getting a new lens. Any thoughts on this. Nikon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens. I am clueless when it comes to the lens. Would this be a decent everyday lens for general shooting. I would like to stay in this price range also. Thanks for the help.
Photozone seems to like it. http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Nikkor% ... est-report I recently went around with a 70-300 as a main lens, and only pulled out the 17-40 when I needed to. If you can live with not having wide angle all of the time, I don't see where you could go wrong here.
Have you ever used a VR lens before? If not, you are going to love the results. You should be able to get good results down to 1/15th of a second at 55mm, probably 1/30th at 200mm. Depending on how steady you can hand-hold it. This range is good for WDW, especialy at AK and for all the shows and parades in the other parks. For things like character meet & greets, zoom in and fill the frame. Use the lens to pull out details instead of the everyday scenics people all take. Oh, and btw, Amazon is having a sale on this lens if you haven't ordered it yet. $100 instant rebate! Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000O161X0/
