Hey all! ; I am considering my wish list for this year, and wanted to get some opinions. ; I am looking at Tokina 11-16 and was looking for thoughts, opinions and even users experiences. ; Thanks for the input.
I bought the Tokina last year after seeing some of the shots by others who have it. ; It's a fun lens, and doesn't have the extreme distortion of a fisheye. ; If you're a Nikon shooter, you're welcome to try mine out at Pixelmania.
Loved the Tokina 12-24 f/4 myself; rented it for a weekend back with the D300. ; Ended up getting the Tokina 11-18 for my Sony; Tokina never released the 12-24 for the Alpha mount.
Budget is not an option, I was told to put a list together and that is what I am doing. ; I have an 18-55, 28-135, and 75-300. ; The 50 1.4 is already on the list, I was thinking about going a little to the wider side.
consider the sigma 30mm f1.4, this is a lens that many like, esp on a crop body, field of view ends up at 42mm, close to 50mm normal, gives a fast prime for dark rides, or save until you can get a used canon 10-22, that is a very underated lens, more than one shooter has stated that if it wasn't ef-s, it would deserve a red ring, and the L letter. i loved mine, i only let it go when i gave my rebel xti to my mother this year. gave her all my ef-s mount glass, as my next light weight travel system will be a micro 4/3 setup
If you are looking for wide angle, the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 is a real bargain. ; The lens is solid and the range is a lot of fun to work with. ; The optics are great. ; Flare is present but, so far, I've found that to be a plus for creative work.
