Kind of an interesting insight to lens reliability across brands: http://www.lensrentals.com/news/2009.11.01/lens-repair-data-35
Yeah, it's cool that he lets you know on the lens page too if it's a high repair or even return rate! One of the newer Siggies he doesn't carry anymore because they would be fine in Memphis, and get something loosened during transit to a customer.
Well, that's certainly interesting. And a bit disturbing; 2 of my Nikon lenses made the list. ; Erich
Interesting that they make a point of stating that Sigma repair performance has improved lately. ; Good for Sigma. None of my lenses are on the list. I am kind of grinning about the comment about primes being low maintenance because that's one of the reasons I went with my 400mm F5.6 instead of the 100-400 IS zoom. ; It was a lot simpler and had a lot less that could go wrong. ; Although then again.. the 100-400 repair rate was less than the 50mm 1.4 which I'd think should also be a simpler and more reliable lens.
