That is actually a better background than when my family saw him and Mater. The Streets of America was for the Power Rangers.
What actually is that? I mean is it just a prop, or does it move, or is it an animatronic car? I've never seen it, and I'm wondering how sophisticated it is. At first I assumed it was just a static prop, but then I got to thinking how cool an animatronic car would be, with a giant LCD or maybe LED panel for the eyes, and some sort of motion system for the mouth.
I'd say a mix of both. His and Mater's eyes will move, the lids will close a little. I think a few lines from the movie are programed into it, it moves like a car, I don't remember the mouth moving, and it will rev its' "engine" while it's moving.
Okay.. I can't help but think that it's a natural follow on to Turtle Talk. That is a more sophisticated car design, coupled with another remote actor to control it. Imagine those giant cartoon eyes swinging around to look at a member of the audience. The mouth could take more work, though.. I doubt they'd ever get it looking realistic enough, but.. I like the idea.
Actually, Lightning and Mater are fully functional motor vehicles that have a driver inside of them. If you look closely at the headlights, you can see a small video camera that transmits to monitors inside the vehicles. They roll out, do their show, then drive away. They eyes move back and forth but the mouths are static.
Yeah, that is a better background than where it usually is by Indiana Jones. Last time I tried to get near it to take a photo, I almost got mauled by a stampede of kids! I thought they should organize some sort of cue line so people could take turns taking pictures of it. Its been a few months since I've seen it though, maybe its better now.
my attempt at an HDR of lightning. [This attachment has been purged. Older attachments are purged from time to time to conserve disk space. Please feel free to repost your image.]
can't forget his pal mater!! [This attachment has been purged. Older attachments are purged from time to time to conserve disk space. Please feel free to repost your image.]
Here are my two from June. Dina said I looked like I was taking pictures of other people's kids, but I was just waiting for split seconds between guests to take the shot. Lighting was superbright overhead noon sun, so I used fill flash for both of these! Oh yeah, Lightning McQueen is SHINY!!!! Boy is it hard to get him not to overexpose on his sharp edges! [me=Roger]waves his hand in front of your face[/me] Go to the Apple Store. Buy a Mac. Buy Aperture 2. Shoot in RAW. Use max highlight recovery. Then turn down the highlight slider until you get the detail back in the highlights. I am still amazed as to how much I can recover from ONE file. http://www.themagicinpixels.com/forum/h ... ic.php?t=3 Perhaps I should go turn down the exposure on my shot. Granted I was hoping to try this again with a full*cough cough*frame*cough cough*sensor but that will be a while. Maybe. I didn't expect to go to Florida as many times as I have this year.
haha! no mac anytime soon for me! and, the newest "cough cough" nikon claims to have a better white balance system....so jpeg is still for me! white balance is my biggest problem with jpeg. and I've heard of this cool tool called an expodisc from some guy Tim. I still prefer jpeg to raw in most cases.
[me=Roger]waves hand in front of face again[/me] Hello - is this working? Did you look on pg 17 of the brochure?
i regularly keep my camera at about 1/3 stop underexposed just to prevent blow outs. with raw it is so easy to push the exposure back up safely.
