So first it was Fauna and now it is Flora. ; Here are some of my favorite photos from the Botanical Gardens in Northern Chicago (not sure of the exact name, but it is in one of the Northern Suburbs). Chicago Botanical Gardens Dew on a Lilac Early Morning Roses A True Depth of Field (Field of Flowers that is) Asymmetry in-motion Green,Green,Green, PINK!
Was going to ask if this was the thing next to Lincoln Park Zoo.. but it looks like it really is called Chicago Botanic Garden and it's located farther away. ; Looks like it's in Glencoe. I like the water lilly flowers.. but I'm sure everyone does.
Thanks all. ; Dan, I do believe it was in Glencoe. ; I used my GPS so I wasn't really paying attention to the City names, but it was north and east of Niles (where I was staying). ; It was definitely bigger than I had expected (a long and narrow tract instead of a large rectangle). ; I didn't go on them, but they have some native grass trails that could feasibly add a few miles to your walk around the gardens. Hula: ; This is one of my favorite photos as well. ; I think that the out of focus background makes the flower "pop" all that much more. ; I am in the process of uploading all my photos to Flickr (only have a small percentage of the more than 63,000 photos on my PC uploaded) and will post my photos from the Missouri Botanical Gardens and Sarasota Jungle Gardens soon. ; I used to make a yearly trip to at least one zoo and botanical garden, but work has kinda cut back on that. Scott: There are a few other shots of this butterfly from diferent angles, but thought that this one is the best of them. ; I also looked a little closer and realized it should be named Symmetry in-motion as the wings of the butterfly ARE symmetrical (or at least the markings). ; I could believe that "he" just sat there on the flower while I was up in his grill taking photos. ; The only downside was that while passing through the wooded area to get to this garden I was attacked by a Blackbird protecting a nest.
