4 month old lab mix puppy, adopted 3 days ago by us, from a local shelter, our golden of 11 years had passed away last week and we needed to fill the void in our lives, and tucker, our yellow lab seemed really lonely, so this is why i haven't been too active on the site lately, i've forgotten how much work it is to raise a well trained dog, at the end of the day we are all worn out, this endless energy machine is giving me a workout we can't figure out the mix, he's got a lab head, lab legs and feet, and kind of a longer stretch body and carries his tail curled, got those little puppy needle fangs still, only a couple of adult teeth yet in second shot he's trying to get tucker to play, tucker's just ignoring him saying "hey kid give it a rest, we'll play tommorrow" of course he's probably the best panning practice i can get, i'll be more than ready for bike racing season, i'll post up a sleeping pic soon as i get one i think i have to abandon single shot and go to burst mode to get a sharp one right now, of course the dark dog against the lighter flooring throws off the autofocus [This attachment has been purged. oh thats wonderful Gary. I'm sorry for your loss. we lost our Niki in January to cancer. But, we have our three young ones for company
Gary not that I am an animal expert or anything, but I would guess the mix is like a husky or akita or malamute with the way that tail curves over. Sorry about the loss, and good luck with the puppy.
oh i agree there, our first and primary guesses are akita or husky, maybe chow from the rust color undercoat below the black, but no dark tongue/jaws that the true chows have, i certainly hope for husky, if i was not a long time retriever person, i would be a husky owner, i like the personality traits most of them have thanks for the thoughts, i can't get over how many nice cards folks have sent, astro was loved by many over the years and other than work and a few places it's not practical, where i go, my dogs go, astro even went to wdw, stayed in the fort wilderness campground in our camper with us at night and in the kennel during the day for 8 days in 2002
dylan at the end of his first week of living here, things are working out well, a few inside accidents, but he's starting to get the hang of housebreaking, tucker has bonded , actualy closer and sooner than we expected, tucker has been sleeping some of the night on the floor next to dylan's crate instead of going into his own, there has been a little less inappropriate teething, we got him one of those rubber kong toys, he loves it, it bounces erratically when he slams it down so he gets to leap around after it. the cats are still partially terrorized, they've been mostly hiding out in the back of the house all week still can't figure our the mix yet, some of our friends are voting shepherd because of that narrow waist/rear end shape, and curled tail, see #4 [This attachment has been purged. end of 2nd week here, and so it begins, the pack bonds are forming, notice in 5 he is laying right up touching tucker, he likes his various squeeky toys, likes to show them to tucker, sometimes he can get the old guy to run a little, housebreaking is going very well, of course we take turns getting up in the middle of the night, but he's letting us know when he needs to go out he really enjoys being brushed and likes his belly rubbed while laying on his back in the sun,no bucking up about taking a toy or food/bone away, that's a good thing [This attachment has been purged.
