Had a great day today as the weather cleared shortly after showtime. My arrived at about 7:15 as usual so I could be one of the first into the show to grab a spot on the flight line and saw many familiar faces from the past few years.

I have to say, as far as warbirds go, this has to be one of (if not the best) collection of flying WWII aircraft.

Planes that flew today: F-4 Corasir, Dauntless Divebomber, SB2C-5 Helldiver, 3 B-25 Mitchell's, B-17 Flying Fortress, 1 of the only 2 B-24 Liberators that's still fly, P-40 Warhawk, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Grumman FM-2 Wildcat, 3 different P-51 Mustangs, about 30 different trainer and liaison aircraft, and the only flying B-29 Superfortress.

These are straight from the camera with no processing. I am looking forward to getting a good look at them once I get home.

Nice set, John. Sorry I couldn't make it this year. Maybe 2016...

I met up with John at the airshow today and had a lot of fun shooting it. The reenactors were great and provided plenty of photo ops in the morning and of course the aircraft put on a great show. It may be a couple weeks before I finish deleting the blurry - I mean processing the shots, but hopefully I'll have some to add here soon.

Maybe we should consider a plane-mania meet next year?

It was great to see @mSummers you and to grab some (many) blurred shots of great WWII warbirds. Doing Plane-mania next year would be great! June 4-5 are the Saturday and Sunday of the show!

I thought she was the only flying B-29, period. Has another one been restored? If so, that would be great news.

Currently yes, but not for long. Doc is almost ready to fly again:

Apparently there was a squadron of 8 named after Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs and this is one of them. Doc is being restored in Wichita, Kansas, home of one of the Boeing plants that built them. They even have a Rosie the Riveter that worked in the B-29 plant helping with the restoration.

Too funny Michael, I just read all that info on that page this morning. Can't wait to see that chrome behemoth in the air!!

That IS great news. And of course, the Disney connection is just one of many authorized uses of characters during WWII. The National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, Ohio has an interesting exhibit describing Disney's involvement in the war.

Very nice!!! I am like halfway through those shots, but I put them on hold for the Paris, London and Duxford Airshow work, then there are 2000 WDW images to sort through......

Thanks John! I'm trying to get mine wrapped up this week.
Hopefully I can get the laptop cleared off before my Cass/Great Smoky Mountain NP trip in October and then clear it again before Pixelmania.
