I was surprised there was not a thread for the most photographed icon at Walt Disney World. So, here it is. Post up all your Cinderella Castle photos from the Magic Kingdom here. Include all times of day, fireworks and any season.
Most of us were posting castle photos in the Hub and Environs thread. However, I agree that Cindy's place deserves its own topic. Here's a combination of real and fake fireworks for Fireworks Friday. Great Balls of Fire
Nice Scott! Yeah, tripods and longer exposures come out quite lovely. I was all handheld, very humid night, trapped in a dense crowd - I didn't even intend to watch the show - I was trying to weave my way through to the exit, but the show started and the crowd packed in tight - so I was stuck watching until the end.
Well, @zackiedawg, this was one of the few times during the show the projections stayed static long enough to a good fireworks shot. Yet, at 12 seconds, it was a short exposure compared to what you could do with Wishes.
I was trying to go through my galleries from Disney and update a few older shots which I had only uploaded at 800x600 originally - this was 10-15 years ago when displays weren't as high-res as today and it was more expensive to host more than 500MB online - so file sizes tended to be quite small. Many of those older shots were taken with 5MP P&S cameras back in the day, so I wondered if they'd hold up to posting them a bit larger to fit in better. Some weren't so good, and they all might be a touch more grainy or missing some fine details that today's DSLRs and good lenses can produce, but considering they were from 5MP tiny sensors 13 years ago, some I found were not bad at all. This is an old Contemporary rooftop shot of Magic Kingdom and the castle taken with an old Sony F717 in 2004, that I re-posted at 1400 pixels on the long side...I liked the layers of mist/pollution and trees plus the sunset colors:
The link includes another link to my experience in photographing Happily Ever After. I know @Joanie Eddis-Koch got some excellent shots recently. Happily Sharing Fireworks Friday by Scott Thomas, on Flickr I expect the Pixelmania crew to come back with more winners.
Wow Joanie - that is seriously cool! I've done light streaks on TTA before, but never with the castle going past too - I like it!
