Yesterday I had the liberty of going to Eastern State Penitentiary and photograph the joint. I got photomax and decided to try out HDR. This was a cell in one of the cell blocks. The place is massive, has so much history, very photogenic and creepy. More pics to come, but let me know what you think. Creepy, indeed. ; Took me a bit to fill in the details there is so much there which is kind of ironic as to what it really is.
Technically, it's a good HDR, not overdone like many. Artistically, however, something's missing for me. I equate a run down creepy place like this with much dimmer lighting, and here it seems to have lost any of its previous menacing claustrophobic feel. Erich
We should maybe make a trip together then pal, without the kids of course. ; Probably without the wives as well, as I am sure that they wouldn't appreciate you and I running around taking a ton of photo's.
i'm surprised tim wants to go there, i myself have been inside ALL of new yorks famous pens, attica, danemora,sing-sing,comstock,napanoch, etc, complete with convict population, so for me no thanks, it's still fresh enough in my memory banks.after you've looked up at the wall from inside, at attica, then looked over and seen ronnie defeo, (amityville) going out on work detail, complete with sharp tools, nothing historic has the same impact
Even though I don't normally like HDR, I think this one has a nice effect. ; Also, I will agree with Erich and say that I think that much dimmer lighting would give it a better feel.
