Ok, I am on the verge of a lens purchase, and I was wondering if you could offer me some further input. ; I am getting a 50mm prime, and have been back and forth on whether I should spend the extra money on the 1.4, or just get the 1.8. ; I do plan on getting the 7D at some point in the future (I'm hoping for sooner rather than later) so I would be able to make up the speed difference with the ISO. ; At least this has been my thought process. ; Can anyone offer me some further input on this? ; Thanks!
Wait a little bit. ; Canon is due to refresh the 1.4 shortly. ; While the 1.8 is dirt cheap, yet sharp, it uses an AFD motor(loud) and the front element rotates when focusing..... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I agree with Roger. ; I have the 1.8 and like it, but it is noisy and made of plastic, so it can't take much abuse. ; Canon is rumored to be replacing the 1.4 possibly this Fall.
The only problem is that that lens is another $150. ; I am working with limited funds and the Canon lenses are cheaper, suprisingly enough.
I hear ya, but their is a reason that lens is more expensive. If you can wait a while, the 50mm f/1.4 Mark I (the current one) will be cheaper when the new Mark II (new version) comes out. ; But it will be months away. Also, have you thought of used through KEH.com or buying on the forums (fredmiranda.com or dgrin.com)
