The Canon 1Ds MKIII is about $6,800 now, $7,500+ when it was introduced. Not a big surprise!

    I'm not surprised either.

I think the street price will be in the $7,000 - $7500 range. If they're smart, they'll keep in closer to $7,000 to compete with the 1Ds MKIII

Not sure about that. At that end of the price range, you already have lenses etc. You really aren't looking to choose a system. I think that customer base is fairly well 'installed' if you will. I just don't see there being a lot of price driven competition between the two.

If there are jumpers, which there will be, it will be more for quality issues, both in build and final product (image quality etc), but I don't see it being because of price.

Only 138mb RAW files. hahah - at least they have dual CF slots.

Well, it was announced before WPPI, but I was expecting it then, not this month. And on a Monday, no less. Maybe they wanted to time it with the 5D Mk2 ship date. (Tim, if history is a guide, you may have to wait 2-3 months for one...)

And maybe Nikon knows something about Canon's PMA plans for the 1Ds series.

HAHA, no wonder they are giving away 4GB cards! Those will be useless in a couple of years!

SandisK now has a 32GB CF UDMA card available.
