http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/ ... -1-J1.html They have a built in EVF model and one without. This link is for the smaller one. ; 10mp 10 fps with AF 1080p HD video Coming out with 4 lenses, including a pancake 10mm. ; (looks like 27mm equiv) ; They also claim that one of the lenses is designed for video. If you have f-mount lenses, you can use them...with an additional adapter. ; No price on that I've found yet...heck NikonUSA doesn't even have a picture of it yet. ; The sensor has a 2.7x crop factor.
I'll profess that I just don't get it. ; They didn't want to go APS-C like the Samsung and Sony - maybe to avoid criticism of the system not being quite compact enough, or to avoid cannibalizing their own DSLR sales...yet the camera body is bigger than the NEX or Pen despite a sensor half the size of the M4:3. ; And the kit lens on the camera body is longer than the NEX5 with kit lens (which is oft criticized for having too large a lens for the tiny body). I guess Oly/Panasonic wouldn't let them get aboard the M4:3 train, as they were smart enough to know Nikon would steal a ton of sales on name alone. The lens selection is small, lenses are slow, battery life is mediocre, camera body is no smaller than other mirrorless, sensor cannot perform in low light/high ISO, proprietary accessory port for flash/etc just like the NEX which was heavily criticised for same, no in-body stabilization which might have given them something to brag on over many other mirrorless...and pricey - same price as higher-end NEX and higher-end M4:3. I honestly don't get what they are trying to do with it. ; But I'm sure they'll sell some just for having Nikon on the front.
I was kind of interested in the concept but the small sensor and lenses pretty much nixed any enthusiasm I had- not sure I understand the benefit here from a nice P&S or bridge camera. ;
