Heads up for you Nikon users out there, courtesy of the planet5d.com site (a wiki for the Canon 5d and Mk II), which itself references the Adorama Twitter feed. According to the feed, there's a price increase of 10-18% coming on "many" items February 1st. While this is from a specific dealer, this is supposed to be to all US dealers, so make of this what you will. If you've been looking for an excuse to pick up some new gear, this could be what you're looking for. Judging from the Canon price increases of last year, expect the increases primarily on lenses and not so much on bodies.
In this economy? Not to smart for a consumer business right now. Nikon is taking a lot of flak on the pricing of the D3X.
At first I was surprised too, but then I realized that everyone is getting slammed across the board, and as long as they match Canon - no bodies/body kits are raised, the increase will probably just pass on for good; lenses are their bread & butter, and I'll bet that 90% of the people who buy consumer bodies or kits won't buy another lens.
I heard over on Nikon Rumors that the increase was going to only affect lenses. The bad part is that supposedly Nikon canceled all back orders and won't take any new orders until after the price increase on February 1st.
Hopefully Canon isn't planning any increases in Lens pricing, I have plans for a Canon 70-200m (or something similar)purchase in May.
I saw the increases over at NikonRumors. OUCH. Well, they have to recoup their $14mil Circuit City owes them someplace.
