it's been awhile since i had anything for my fire/ems thread, was in greenport today doing seascapes, heard the siren go off while i was at the hospital, it's right on the water and karen was just getting off, she walks out the er door and i say, you just got out in time, greenport just rolled out on a rescue, so 5 miles up the road on the way home i come across this, there are no victims in view, i make it a policy not to post victim shots. the main fire department, southold is my old volunteer outfit i served 10 years with #1 has a walking wounded, but obscured by all the fireman and is the last out [attachment=1] #2,heavy rescue, not the fanciest, but it gets the job done, did not need a second jaws set, the doors on the van popped open without help [attachment=2] #3, 8-4-2, my old company [attachment=3] #4, 2 of the 7 ambulances required, not good time to need help in the area, nearest ambulance during this now 8 miles away to east or west [attachment=4] #5, breaking down the jaws and packing up the hose lines, we still help each other in the small communities in this country, and i hope we never lose that, the 2nd fireman from the right in turn out gear, b grattan, i've known him since we were kids, he's pushing 60 and he still responds, day or night [attachment=5] #6, the aftermath, the little suv took a direct shot to the drivers door, then both hooked hard left up the embankment, no helicopter, perfect flying weather, so driver is either doa at hospital, or not that badly injured [attachment=6] so i know it's not disney, but that's not the only thing i photograph, and it made me hope and wish that all on tmip have a SAFE and happy holidays [This attachment has been purged.
