Dream Come True People who know me, know that Im ABSOLUTELY obsessed with Disney World. A year ago at the Woodfield Mall, they opened Disney Doorway To Dreams - kind of a Disney Vacation Club selling place. This weekend was their one year anniversary celebrations....which of course they want you to buy stuff. But Disney being Disney they also sell stuff. They gave a cool African necklace that decorates the Animal Kingdom Lodge and a Mr. Potato Head. Dont know if you guys care or not, but I met Ryan from Disney Files! At the end Mickey Mouse comes out and draws a name out of a entry box of the guests in the audience. What do they win you ask? That person wins: A 5 Day 4 Night Trip good anytime in the next year at a one bedroom vacation club resort. Round trip air fair for 4 people from Chicago Park Hoppers for 4 people A 1500.00 Disney Gift Card Check for 3,415.00 to pay the taxes WE WON!!!!! Well actually my Dad did, they kind of mispronounced our last name so it took a minute for us to hit us -- but now were excited LOL. Havent decided when were going...maybe our annual May trip, maybe an 'extra trip'. I hope this makes sense LOL Katie
Wow indeed! What an awesome thing to happen - and good to know it happened to a true Disney fan, and not someone who wouldn't appreciate it. I'd be happy to help you as far as making recommendations on when to go or where to stay (if you get to choose). Of course, my basic recommendation would be to try to get in during either one of the great holiday times or event times when it's harder and more expensive to go, or to go when the parks are a little cooler and less crowded, which makes it more pleasant to walk around. Flower & Garden festival time, Food & Wine time, Thanksgiving-to-Christmas period when the holiday lights are up...or late January to early February when the weather's cooler and nicer and the crowds are a lot thinner. If you haven't already stayed in one, you'll love the 1-bedroom vacation homes - they're plenty large, great designs, and you get that great whirlpool tub which makes the end of a day of walking around in the parks feel so nice! Location-wise, it's hard to beat Boardwalk or Beach Club's villas...not only on the Boardwalk where there's much happening, but so close to Epcot too. Remember that Old Key West's villas are by far the largest - by at least 25% or more...so if it's space you're after, those are the best. But any of them are great. Keep us up to date on when you choose...and though we are all quite jealous, we're also happy for ya!
Justin Thanks. I said the same thing about it happening to a true Disney fan -- except that the room was FULL of DVC members. I kept saying if it wasnt us I was hoping it would be someone with little kids. Our DVC home resort is Boardwalk so weve stayed their plenty of times were thinking we want to do something different stay at AKL or Wilderness. You guys will be very proud....one of my first thoughts its "oh good Im glad I bought my Rebel" Were thinking February or March to break up the yucky grey of winter and spring. We talked about September but Im a teacher and thats when I get my new kids. Off to work...oh boy is this going to be a long day
Oops...didn't know you were already In the DVC, Katie! Sorry...I guess you already know enough about them then! February is always a favorite time of mine...that or very late January. The parks are definitely less crowded, the weather is cool for Florida making walking around much more pleasant (but still MUCH warmer than most of the rest of the US!). Wilderness is nice - of course I love that hotel lobby and pool area anyway. I haven't yet stayed in AK's Vacation homes - it'll be easier once Kidani is finished. Any clue when Contemporary's DVC will be open? That would be nice to get to christen the newest DVC resort!
